Pregnancy & Baby Recommendations

As a first time mom I have sooo many questions so I immediately asked the amazing women on Instagram and Facebook to spill all the goods. Everything from the best maternity leggings to must have baby stuff.

This list will grow but I hope this resource is a go-to spot for you from all the amazing women who have offered their advice and the shopping I have done myself.

Maternity Pants & Leggings

Black Leggings

Faux Leather Leggings

Jeans (I bought 2 pairs of these)

Tops & Tanks

These tanks are SOOO nice - the white isn’t see through at all. My boobs are currently a 34DD and the small fit perfectly. I bought one in each color to pair under cardigans.

Baby Stuff

Pacifiers - recommended by a dentist.

Organic Diaper Balm

Water Wipes

Stroller - this one has an attachment where a carrier will fit on the top until they can control their neck and its safe to ride stroller style.

Nursing Bras

Bottles - these are recommended if you are breastfeeding

Corresponding Nipples - again, these are the ones everyone told me to get since I’ll be breastfeeding. Apparently they are the closest thing to a natural nipple.

Breast Pump - I did a TON of research regarding breast pumps. I wanted something that didn’t tie me down with cords. Everything I read on this one raved about how on-the-go this pump was. There was even a review that said “I was in a meeting and no one knew I was pumping”. I want to be hands free as much as possible while I’m pumping so thats why I went with this one.

Baby Laundry Detergent.

Baby Carrier

Organic Baby Crib Mattress - I am getting the innerspring one

Fragrance Free Diapers

Organic Bath Towels

Organic Washcloths

Postpardum Essentials Recovery Kit - I bought this for my sister after she had her 2nd baby girl and she said it was the best ever.

Changing Pad - Naturepedic Organic (same brand as the mattress - I got the 2 sided one

Health & Wellness

All of the workouts I’ve been doing + my post workout smoothie is part of the Sweat Studio. There is a complete section in our app for prenatal workouts and I’ve been doing those 5 days a week.

What I’m packing in my hospital bag

IMG_8630_jpg.JPG

I am a light packer - if you’ve been hanging out with me online for any length of time you know that I never check a bag on an airplane and I clean out my condo at least once a month because I hate “too much stuff”. So naturally overpacking for a hospital stay is NOT going to happen. I’ve scoured internet for the list of the must-have’s and then narrowed it down even more. There’s a few things I’m a stickler for (think natural diapers and wipes) but I also am a-ok with drinking out of a hospital cup.

If you are pregnant or know someone who is hopefully this list will help you and save you some time.

My bag:

Lightweight robe

Hospital gown

Going home outfit (joggers and cute sweatshirt)

Nursing bras

Elvie catch (I’m using this instead of nursing pads that way it collects milk and doesn’t just absorb it) *UPDATE - I didn’t use this in the hospital since colostrum is all that is produced the first 48 hours but I have used it a TON since my milk came in.

Makeup, hairbrush, toothbrush, toothpaste

Face wipes

Phone charger

Pillow/blanket

Slippers

Gripper socks

Body wash and lotion

Natural Antibacterial stuff

Pj’s that have a button up top

Everyone has told me to just use the hospitals postpartum stuff and leave mine at home so thats what I plan to do.

For Baby Girl:

Diaper Bag (most everything will go in her diaper bag)

Going home outfit

Wipes (we are doing all fragrance free on her wipes and diapers so thats why I’m bringing my own)

Diapers

Mittens

Socks

1 footed onesie

2 swaddle blankets

2 hats

Non-Perishable Food:

Freeze dried fruit

Pretzels

Trail mix

Granola Bars

Dehydrated fruit

Perishable food that my mom is going to grab on the way to the hospital:

Oranges

Bananas

Hummus

Carrot slices

Purple seedless grapes
